007 – Show notes

From the day we start school, we are led down a path of a quite a strict routine and we were required to be there by law. Our parents knew the school terms, what time school started, what time school and off we would go each day in the uniform we were told to wear. 13-14 years later, we leave and off some go to higher education and others to a job. The routine continues and for many, it goes on for decades.  We are told where to be, at what time and what to do.

Because of this repeated routine, the habit is ingrained. So when you make that big step of starting your business and set foot on your journey as a female entrepreneur sometimes it can be hard to break these habits. But to me as a business woman, you should have the choice to do what you want, when you want, how you want and where you want.

So in this episode, I speak about what it is like to have these habits, what you could be feeling and how you start to break them.

My three books

You may need help to recognise your habits and then break them. So here are my book recommendations that will help.

The Power of Habit

Charles Duhigg

The perfect book for this episode. This is about how you create habits and patterns of behaviours and how they become so ingrained we don’t even recognise them. This book is all about creating deliberate habits.

The Outliers

Malcolm Gladwell

Maybe a little left turn but it is still relevant to do the same thing over and over again to become the best version of yourself doing it. Over and over again you need to be the female entrepreneur you want to be.

Mindset

Dr Carol Dweck

One of the most powerful books written about Mindset, how it works. Understand the difference between a growth mindset and a fixed mindset. Learn how to achieve your goals by changing your mindset.
