Get help with kicking arse with a Pinterest vision board

Why make your dreams visual?

Vision boards are an incredibly powerful way to create some thing visual for the dreams, desires and goals you have set for yourself and the beginning of the year is the perfect time to do this.  In my post How to kick the arse out of 2018, I talk about the impact you can gain by creating these boards and then using them as a daily boost of inspiration.

Making it visual is a tried and tested way to keep the motivation levels high for what ever it is you wish to achieve.

A survey done by TD Bank showed that 76% of small businesses who used vision boards when they first started their business said that their businesses, five years on, are exactly how they had envisaged them.

When you take time to see into the future, when you can see a destination, even though you may have some detours on the way you can keep the end in sight.  It is a powerful step to take the dreams out of your head and make turn them into an image that can enforce the dream.

Out of your head

Why Pinterest?

Some people like to do vision boards the old fashioned way to do it, cutting pictures from magazines and gluing them onto large pieces of cardboard. This is a great way to do it. In one of my offices many years ago I had a wall of all my visions boards. It is also a fun but powerful thing to do with your children.

However, Pinterest is such an incredible platform with over 100 billion pins you are not short of images that inspire you.  The other reason is that using the platform helps with the ‘Act As If’ is because you can have the app on your smart phone or tablet, so your daily dose of inspiration is only a tap away.

Vision Board

The secret board

Now get started on your vision board. What makes Pinterest

  1. Go to the Secret Board section, at the bottom your profile. (The reason why secret is so important because there are no excuses to think big, no one but you will see your secret board.
  2. Take all the goals that you have written or are still in your head and start searches for images that you feel relate.  Pinterest has an incredibly powerful search function so you will find the perfect picture.
  3. Add images for
    • Travel – Put on the board every place you would like to visit
    • Money – Find images that represent wealth to you
    • Style – If you have dreams of designer clothes and bags then pin away
    • Business – What is your dream business, your dream office, is it a hammock by the sea of the corner of a 25 story building. Pin, pin, pin
    • Female inspiration – Who else inspires you
    • Home – Do you have perfect vision of you home, how you want your kitchen you look or the garden you want to have
    • Cars – Do you have a dream car.

The list is endless and it has to fit your dreams, not the world’s example as to what people should dream, don’t be limited by what you think others would say, just pin what inspires you.

4. When you need moments of inspiration find more pictures to pin, keep adding, changing, moving.

5. Visit your boards daily to really make sure you keep the vision of your desired lifestyle close to you.

6. Have fun with it.
